The Akeidah - A Diary

A midrash by Jason and Leo.

Dear Diary,

Today, I was shocked when, without any notice, my father told me he was bringing me on a long jouney in some mountains to make a sacrifice.

He told me that early tomorrow morning, we would leave.

As we were walking up the mountain, I became a little suspicious when I realized ther was not animal to sacrifice anywhere in sight.

When I asked my father about it, he said we would find one on the way.

I was still a little shaky about the idea and I was constantly scanning the area in search of a ram or something.

When we got to the top of the mountain, we started building the altar and then I started to get very nervous when there was still no animal.

Finally, we finished and then surprisingly my father tied me up and actually threw me on the altar.

I didn't know what to think and yelled at him, "Why in the world are you doing this me?" He responded, "It was an order from G-d. I must do this."

I was like, "No you don't." But then, when he raised the axe I decided not to put up a fight.

Then something strange happened. My father started talking to no one! Was he losing his mind?

He then started taking me off the altar. I was so thankful.

A ram appeared and we happily sacrificed that instead.

THE END.
