The Akeidah: G-d's Test

A midrash by Ben and Ethan.

As G-d looked upon Abraham, He thought that Abraham had passed many tests. But they were all simple tests. They were always sacrificing lambs, going places, and doing things. All of these tests did not prove much.

Then G-d knew what He would do. G-d would make one last super, duper test. G-d looked down upon Abraham and saw how much he loved his son Isaac. Then He knew what the test would be.

G-d said, "...or, I could make him build a car. Nah. I'll make Henry Ford or Moses do that!"

The angel started the long trip to tell Abraham to sacrifice his son. Abraham wondered why he wanted Abraham to kill his son, and why he had called on him during dinner. It was so rude!

As Abraham went toward the mountain, he wondered why he had to do this.

Was it a punishment? No...

Was it a joke? No...

What will he do at the top of the mountain?

Half way up the mountain, Isaac said, "Why can't we take a servant up the mountain to carry the stupid..."

"They cannot see what will happen.", said Isaac's father.

"Where is the lamb?", asked Isaac.

"G-d will provide it.", said Abraham.

"Why can't we take a car up the mountain?", asked Isaac.

"It is not invented yet. You know Henry Ford has not been born and Moses has not been freed to invent it yet.", said Abraham.

"Hey Dad, why are there so many "..." in the story?" asked Isaac.

Sarah was dressed like a burgler and she followed Abraham up the mountain.

"If he kills my son, I will not talk to him again. I mean, what if we all went around killing our sons. Oh my!", said Sarah.

THE END.

*******************************************************************************

"Maybe I will make Henry Ford build the car.", G-d said.

"What is with the "...", Abraham said. "Yes, the story is over!"

THE REAL END.
